Intro to Inkblot Design™
A four-week cohort learning program available to the public
Are you an equity-aspiring leader who is feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or frustrated that things have seemed to flatline or revert back to business-as-usual? Are you one of the few at your org tirelessly pushing forth equity-efforts, with very little support or resources? Do you desire to be part of a larger movement of equity designers across industries, building new paradigms, with space to resource share and create meaningful connections?
As we have seen, the recognition that racism, sexism, able-ism, classim (etc) are products of design, isn’t enough to make a difference. If the foundational mental models, behaviors and processes haven’t budged, the more efforts are made, the more things can stay the same. If this is your experience, you are not alone. Join a cohort of co-conspirators committed to shifting their practices, industries and beyond to co-create an equitable future!
In this foundational Intro to Inkblot Design™ cohort learning program, we’ll spend four weeks having you:
Adopt the stance that you are an equity designer. Everyone is a designer, whether you have “design” in your title, went to school for it - or not. If you are creating anything that impacts people and the planet, you are designing.
Set up with a powerful and sturdy foundation behind the WHY (providing the context and possibility) of equity design
Build new mental models, shifting your thinking and behaviors
Try on relational and strategic applied practices in your life and work
This is not a passive program! Equity design is just as relational as it is strategic, so we will be engaging in personal and community practices as a cohort, and in the field.
This program will leave you with increased capacity to illuminate, investigate, inquire and implement equity design principles, such as:
An understanding of the foundational concepts, language and context of equity design
The opportunity to practice relational and strategic equity design tools from the Inkblot Design™framework
The ability to identify barriers and opportunities when ideating, strategizing, designing, and building products, services, content, or experiences that center equity
The ability to see and name where inequitable design is at play
An exploration of who you are and how that is connected to what and how you design
Personal and relational wellness practices that will strengthen your ability to reduce burnout and continue your journey of building a more equitable world
Building relationships with like-minded equity-aspiring leaders across industries!
This program is for folks at all stages of their equity design learning journey, not just beginners.
You don’t have to have a “DEI” title or an explicit initiative to do and create things that improve the well-being and quality of life for people most impacted by systemic inequities. In fact, to truly be committed to equity, all things that you build can and should consider leaving those most harmed, better off. We will apply a design frame to centering equity in how you build anything.
Use your end-of-year L&D budgets and get your butt in a seat. Bring some team members, and let’s begin to build the mindsets and practices to become equity designers.
